Industrial equipment sheet metal: the parts that get leaned on
Machine guards, control panels and equipment frames are the parts operators lean on, hinge open daily, and modify in the field. They are rarely the most precise parts on a machine, but they are the ones that define whether the machine feels solid and looks maintained after two years of shifts.
The recurring theme in industrial work is late-stage change. A control panel grows a new operator interface, a guard needs an inspection window, a frame gains a lifting eye. We design for that reality — modularity where the customer wants it, and a revision process that keeps documentation honest when the machine changes.
- Typical industrial parts we manufacture
- Machine guards and safety enclosures with polycarbonate mounting
- Control panels and operator stations
- Equipment frames and bases with levelling feet
- Conveyor covers and chutes
- Electrical cabinets for factory-floor duty
- Guards are a safety document, not just a panel
- Where a guard forms part of a safety function, the fixing method, the opening force and the panel material all matter. Polycarbonate windows need a different edge treatment and fixing pitch than steel, and the frame has to keep the panel in compression rather than clamping it rigid. We ask which standard the machine is certified to before detailing the guard.
- Field modification is predictable — plan for it
- Extra push-button holes, a second cable gland, a repositioned HMI: these arrive after the first machine ships. Leaving a sensible knockout strategy or specifying the panel in a grade that drills cleanly on site saves a customer from cutting and repainting in their own workshop.
- Frames need to be measured on the ground they will stand on
- A welded frame that is straight on the table can twist once it is bolted to an uneven floor. Levelling feet, a defined reference face and a documented diagonal measurement are cheaper than a service visit.
- Material and finish choices for industrial equipment
- SPCC and SGCC 1.0–3.0 mm for panels and guards; 304 stainless where washdown or hygiene applies; aluminium 5052 where the part is removed frequently. Powder coat RAL-matched is the norm, with a heavier build on faces that take impact. For factory-floor electrical enclosures we also see indoor/outdoor variants of the same part, which we split into two finishes rather than over-specifying one.
- Quality records industrial buyers ask for
- Dimensional reports on the mounting interfaces, coating thickness on the cosmetic faces, and batch traceability are the standard set. Where the enclosure is part of an electrical assembly, we keep the earthing point specification and continuity expectations in the drawing record so the customer’s panel shop inherits a defined part.
What we make, not just who for
Enclosures, cabinets, chassis, brackets, panels and frames — with the design constraints each one comes with.
